Healthy Lives

Artworks Creative Communities' healthy lives projects focus on using creative methods to enable the participants to gain the confidence and skills they need to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Artworks has worked with a wide range of groups and themes such as exercise and relaxation, 5-a-day, healthy eating and cooking whilst tackling issues such as encouraging regular health checks and accessing appropriate services.

Artworks' project with Bradford's gypsy traveller group has seen participants increase in confidence, be encouraged to make dietary changes for substantial weight loss and brought women into an open group for what for many is the first time in their lives. Being a part of this group has significantly improved mental and physical health and aided engagement with their own and other group members children. Where specific health issues are identified participants are referred on to further services.

Artworks has worked with a range of different groups including Asian women, mothers and toddlers and many other groups with a focus on reducing fat use in cooking and increasing the intake of vegetables through themed creative work such as; mosaic and textiles, paper making and dance and portrait painting and film making.
