Homelessness
Artworks Creative Communities has worked intensively with the homeless community of Bradford on a series of creative projects to address issues effecting those with experience of homelessness.
Projects using a variety of creative processes have been used as tools to increase confidence, self esteem and promote behaviour change in participants.
Our pilot project worked with a group of people in hostels and used creative writing, rap and photography to address issues relevant to each individual participant's experience of homelessness. This project was selected to be Highly Commended in the Charity Awards 2010 and was allocated funding to extend this work to a yearlong project called Hidden Voices. This Project has resulted in three of the participants attaining full time work, permanent accommodation and volunteering placements, and has proved life changing for many of those involved.
