Dawn Sharkey: C3 Participant

Since successfully completing the C3: Creative Communities Course, in 2008, Dawn has become a very busy and highly regarded community arts practitioner, she has worked with organisations across Bradford-district and beyond. Her commitment and enthusiasm to community regeneration using the arts has seen her work on many high profile Artworks projects and she is one of our Artists Associates.

"What a fantastic group of people and an amazing tutor in Helen, the C3 course gave me the skills and confidence to utilise my artistic skills in a community setting which has completely changed my life as before I was waiting tables in a restaurant and now I do this full time.

I am now working on projects that a year ago I wouldn’t have believed I could do. I am currently working on a consultation in Kirklees with young people, a long term Creative Partnerships project and a huge variety of other projects. One of my highlights this year was the lanterns project, seeing culmination of all the work we and the children had done coming together in the Parade. The Hope Project was also wonderful to work on, it was such a privilege to work with those young people.

All of this is possible because of C3 and Artworks and their continuing support."
