Artworks is running another C3: (PTLLS) Creative Communities Course! The course will run on Fridays from 2nd March - 30th March 2012.

Delius 150th Anniversary 1862-1934

2012 marks the anniversary of the birth of composer Frederick Delius. Born in Bradford to a family of wool merchants, of German descent, Delius turned his back on the family trade and went on to study music at the Music Conservatorium in Leipzig. Delius’ colourful life and career took him all over the world, notably to Florida and to Paris. Sir Thomas Beecham described Delius as ‘the last great apostle in our time of romance, emotion and beauty in music’.

Frederick Delius is part of the rich history of our building at the Delius Arts and Cultural Centre, due to the German Church that we are based in being his family church. The Delius family name can be seen in the stained glass windows to the rear of the church space above the altar.

Special anniversary celebrations will include several festivals, events, competitions and performances happening around the country, further details of these Delius inspired events and Delius’ life can be found at the Delius Society/Delius Trust website at www.delius.org.uk.

The Drawing Club has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where anyone and everyone can get together to create Art. Just come along, sit down and enjoy drawing our amazing performers/models!

Each session will play to a theme with a model/performer in character. We will use lighting and music to create interesting environments.

You are encouraged to bring any media you would like to interpret the theme.

If you are new to life drawing or a practising artist wanting to develop your skills in a sociable environment, come along and let’s make some art!

**Please be aware that the Tuesday night Drawing Club on the 15th May will begin at the earlier time of 6.00pm**

Cost: £4 Students, unemployed & retired | £6 Employed (includes a cup of tea/coffee)

Parking: Limited parking on Southbrook Terrace (next to the Centre), Randall Well Street car park (by the Love Apple) and Wilton Street car park (behind the Kashmir curry house)
