Creative Consultation

Views, feelings and perspectives can be expressed in different ways. Discussion is not always the best method, particularly for those who are not comfortable with articulation.

Creating visual images is one way of engaging with people at a different level. We use this technique or other creative techniques such as rap, sculpture, multimedia and creative writing to engage and elicit views, feelings and perspectives.

We have recently worked with the Care Quality Commission (formerly the Healthcare Commission) on an assignment from the national organisation responsible for regulating Health Services. Artworks designed and tested an innovative creative consultation programme to gather information from the public, influencing the commissioning of new health services.

“Working with Artworks demonstrated how creative consultation techniques can be used to collect useful, timely and useable information from patients and the public. The creative methods they designed enabled individuals and groups who are not often heard, to tell their stories, which has increased the quality and volume of data entering our database”
