MARCH
Dave Birchall/Andrew Cheetham & Sumray/Cooke/Bennett

Tuesday, 12th March 2013 | Doors open 7.30pm - 11pm | £5/£3
Free Improvisation duo Birchall/Cheetham are from Manchester, and do free improvisation! You can see a video of them here - http://vimeo.com/25527747. I can't tell you what they'll sound like, but it might be a bit like that.
Also on the bill, a collaboration between three Bradford based improvising artists from different disciplines - visual artist Lou Sumray, dancer Chemaine Cooke, and musician Seth Bennett. They will spontaneously create a multimedia piece, Lou's live drawings being projected onto the dance space, so that each artform/artist can interract with the other.

A Night of Experimental Noises

Friday, 15th March 2013 | Doors open 7.30pm - 11pm | £5
This Obscene Baby Auction presents...
N.Racker
Mysterious, dark and sparse soundscapes from deepest Todmorden. Members of Sam and The Plants use an array of acoustic and electronic devices, analogue synths, processed vocals and curious objects to create an alternative, bit-scary universe. Their album Flock Toxicant was release by Andy Votel’s label Pre-Cert Home Entertainment last year. This will be a rare appearance not to be missed. http://www.nracker.co.uk/
Trans/Human
Well-travelled and respected avant-techno from Sheffield/Newcastle. Excellent humans processing sounds from proper instruments like guitars and drums to create noises that will move your body and tickle your mind. Past performances have involved collaborations with blood-letting performance artists and lots of strobe lights. For this tour Adam and Luke will be collecting sounds during the day from around the local area that will then be used in the performance. http://www.theaudaciousartexperiment.com/trans-human/
Ap Martlet
Debut performance from one half of experimental improv duo Hagman doing treated silence constructed from homemade electronics and acoustics. Free Midwich recently had the following to say - "I remain amazed that Dave just sneaks these modest masterworks of electrical wrenching and tweaking onto Soundcloud. If I ever came up with stuff as good as this then I would organise a parade with elephants in feathered headdresses".

Improvised jazz

Tuesday, 9th April 2013 | Doors open 7.30pm | £5
This Obscene Baby Auction presents...
Jooklo Duo
Free Jazz duo from Italy made of Virginia Genta (sax) and David Vanzan (drums) absolutely blazing it in the best way possible. Loved by Henry Rollins and Wire magazine alike, their endless pursuit of spiritual redemption through free music has resulted in a huge strew of releases; collaborations with notable characters including Merce Cunningham, Chris Corsano, Sonic Youth, John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), and gigs, tours and residencies all over the world. Come see them create the good energy for Bradford.

Bennet/Murray/Vulliamy
The musical answer to the question; what should be done if three of the finest and most affable improvising musicians in the UK happen to all live in Bradford? A joyous collaboration of double bass, viola/vocals and trombone making it up in short bursts that are sad, energetic, unnerving, funny and intuitively composed. Seth has played in a ton of bands and groups from the DIY punk scene through to 7 Hertz, McWatt and countless Jazz projects. Aby and George were both members of Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra.

Matthew Bourne and Kit Downes
Matthew Bourne’s record topped Stewart Lees Best of 2012 List for The Sunday Times. He has been spotted in Delius Centre before tinkling the ivories for the Almost-Well-Tuned-Piano event and exploring the range of the organ when Trembling Bells came to town. For this event he will be joined by equally acclaimed Jazz pianist Kit Downes who Timeout described as ‘One of the finest pianists of his generation’, for a twin attack on the senses!
